The Way We Were

I’m an old guy.

Born in the summer of 1948, I went through my childhood years during the Eisenhower administration. Even though my parents voted for Adlai Stevenson in both the 1952 AND 1956 elections, they liked Ike. His integrity and wisdom earned the respect of just about everyone. Indeed, my mother and father were grateful to live in a country that would put that kind of man in the White House.

Now, fast-forward to 2026... and what do we have?

Each summer is hotter than the one before, yet Republican politicians can’t even bring themselves to acknowledge that observable fact.

Ask Republican office-holders “Who won the 2020 presidential election?”, and they routinely answer that Joe Biden was “certified”.

You see what I mean. How can we make America great again when we can’t get a straight answer out of ANY Republican law-maker? Answer: Republicans aren’t being candid because they are all afraid of Donald Trump. All of them.

Never mind that the Administration and the Legislature are two DIFFERENT branches of our federal government. On Capitol Hill, Republicans are in control, and ALL of them crave Trump’s approval... which effectively nullifies the power of Congress as an independent body.

In a nutshell, this is why you should NOT elect Jessica Steinmann to be District 8’s next Congressional representative. She would fit right in with the people who delivered today’s inflation, chaos, and war, all because they couldn’t and wouldn’t stand up to you-know-who.

You may think of yourself as a Republican, and you may loathe the idea of voting for a Democrat. If that is the case, then don’t vote in the upcoming election! Stay home and don’t even think about mailing in your ballot. That is the only way to discipline your formerly great Republican Party.

If you want to rescue TRUE conservatism, you must do your part to reform that party. It has been highjacked by a New York con artist, and you must be brave enough to walk away.
