Hawks, Hawkeyes, and the defense of Donald Trump

By now, I assume that you're familiar with Eric Schmitt's attempted ambush in a recent Senate hearing.

If you haven't heard about it, I'll just summarize the gaffe this way: Schmitt and his fellow Republicans tried to "expose" a conspiratorial relationship between prosecutor Jack Smith and Atlanta's District Attorney. Unfortunately for Schmitt, his "evidence" pointed to a basketball game that featured the Atlanta Hawks. and not the Iowa Hawkeyes, who played in a game that Smith DID attend. Bottom line: Jack Smith did not attend a Hawks game and did not meet with Atlanta's D.A. in an effort to bring down Donald Trump.

Anyway, the whole thing was a giant embarrassment for both the Missouri senator and that Republican effort to protect the president of the United States.

So, why am I bringing up this incident now? Why is this story relevant for the citizens of District 8? 

Well, think about the woman who opposes Laura Jones in the upcoming election. Jessica Steinmann bills herself as a litigation specialist, and wants to be the next House representative from District 8.

Just like our US Senate, the House has its own hearings, where members listen to testimony from knowledgeable witnesses. And as you might expect, some of those people will make comments -- UNDER OATH -- that Donald Trump does not welcome in a public forum.

To follow this line of thinking, just imagine what it would be like if Steinmann wins the November election. Picture the scene of her sitting up on the dais, cross-examining a whistle-blower who has unflattering things to say about a Trump-appointee and his management style.

Would Jessica be an objective seeker of Truth? OH, HELL NO!! In all likelihood, she'd be Maximum Partisan every step of the way, just like her personal heroes: Schmitt, Kennedy, and Cruz.

But that's the job: Defend Trump, NO MATTER WHAT. That's what she'd be expected to do by the wealthy people who've financed her campaign.

Please don't help her to succeed in this nasty effort. Send Laura Jones to Congress.
