Five Facts for Hispanics in District 8

In Texas Congressional District 8, approximately 263,000 people identify as Hispanic or Latino of any race, according to the US Census. That's roughly 1 out of every 3 residents, given the total population of 801,000 in 2023.
Texas has the most ICE detainees of any state in the Union during Fiscal Year 2025. With 12,623 detainees, Texas has more ICE incarcerations than California and Louisiana COMBINED, according to tracereports.org.
The Montgomery County ICE Processing Center has been an especially busy facility. At just this one location, the AVERAGE daily head count was 1,213 jailed people as of June 9th, 2025.(Source: https://tracreports.org/immigration/detentionstats/facilities.html )
It is reasonable to assume that most of these individuals are Hispanic.
The Pew Research Center recently released their validated voter survey, which found that nationwide... "...nearly half of Hispanic voters supported Trump last year (48 percent), up from 36 percent in 2020 and 28 percent in 2016."
Congressman Morgan Luttrell is a self-confessed supporter and enabler of Donald Trump's immigration policies.
